Solidarity

Year: 2023
Technique: digital drawing

The Solidarity drawing was made for the identically-titled exhibition at the raum AU gallery in Slovenj Gradec to mark the end of the research focused on the archive of the artistic practice of Pino Poggi.

Reflecting on the current social issues and the less-than-positive outlook for the future, I wonder what is the one thing that our society is most lacking today that would change the way we think and act? Rather than holding up a mirror to the pain and despair, I try to think about change and the ways to work towards a better future. The drawing offers a proposal and reflection on the meaning of solidarity and collective action. It was created before the devastating floods that hit Slovenia in August 2023 and were described as the biggest natural disaster in the country’s history. At the time, there was certainly no lack of solidarity within Slovenian society.
